Replacing Chemotherapy with a Gentler Process: Dr. Danielle Villars, ATLyphe
How one approaches the goal of replacing chemotherapy with a gentler process? Where does the “we can do it” start? How do you get to the point where your process shows no side effects in the pre-clinical phase, in animals? And when will clinical trials start – in patients?
In this episode, you’ll hear about
- how are blood cells produced
- acute myeloid leukemia
- hematopoietic stem cell transplantation or bone marrow transplant procedure
- how to replace chemotherapy in the conditioning stage
ATLyphe is a Swiss Startup, a spin-off from the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich. They developed a T cell engager and activator for safer, precise conditioning before hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in leukemia.
My guest today is Dr. Danielle Villars, the CEO of ATLYphe, a biologist who completed her PhD in cancer biology. She already proved she is a high achiever – before committing to science-backed entrepreneurship and bringing this new process to patients, she broke four national records as an Olympic swimmer for Switzerland.
